DON’T CRITICIZE OR CONDEMN
Nobody likes being condemned or criticized no matter what
they have done. Not even the worst of criminals would want to, rather they will
always give excuses for what they have done no matter how dumb the excuse is. when
you condemn, you end up making the person defensive which doesn’t make things
better. so instead of condemning or criticizing, appreciate areas the person
has done well and “recommend” areas that he can do better. You find out that he
would be more inclined to apply what you told him and make him like you.
OFFER GENUINE COMMENDATION
Everyone likes being appreciated, even you. So why not put
it in your schedule to offer genuine commendation to whoever has done something
for you, no matter how small or even if its in the persons normal line of duty.
myself for example always try to remember to tell the guys that opens the bank
door or the restaurant door thank you with a smile. Trust me, it’s the best tip
ever. Sotell your professor thank you for that lecture, tell your employer well
done, you would be amazed how people will like you.
LEARN TO LISTEN
All of us like it when people are genuinely interested in
what we are saying. So when someone is saying something, listen with interest
even if its your employee or junior staff at work. Don’t be quick to interject
and correct. Be interested in what the person is saying.
ALWAYS SMILE
Why do you love babies? I bet it’s the cute little smile. We
are all attracted to smiley faces, so if
you want people to like you, then always keep a smiling face.
