Sam Bailey was crowned the winner of The X Factor 2013 on Sunday night, after competing against Nicholas McDonald in the final.
And newly-released week-by-week voting figures for the programme show that the 36-year-old former prison officer was always the favourite contestant - coming top in eight of her 11 live performances.
Showing the programme was always a two horse race, the other three live shows were won by runner-up Nicholas - when he performed Robbie Williams' She's The One and Adele's Someone Like You.
She was always the favourite! Newly released week-by-week X Factor voting figures have revealed Sam Bailey won 8 out of 11 shows
Incredible vocals: Sam reduced the judging panel to tears with her performance of winner's single Skyscraper on Sunday night's show
It remains to be seen what measures will be taken by X Factor bosses in order to improve ratings ahead of next year's series.
Bosses at the show are likely to be fuming after ratings from Saturday night's segment of the final were revealed to be the lowest in nine years - embarrassingly pulling in just 8.5million viewers.
Last year 13 million tuned in to see tattooed Teesider James Arthur win The X Factor crown – a marginal drop on the 13.1 who watched the 2011 final, won by Little Mix.
Turning things around: Luke Friend went from coming in ninth in week one to finishing the show in third place overall
That figure is a significant drop on the 17.5 million viewers it attracted for Matt Cardle's win in 2010 - Simon Cowell's final appearance before leaving to develop the show in the US.
The ratings for Sunday night's episode have yet to be released.
